Dell Studio 1435 - Time of day clock stopped

Recently my laptop stopped working. The screen would go black and display only the message; "Time-of-day clock stopped". The error occurred before the start-up sequence reached the boot options.Can somebody tell me what is the problem and how to fix it??

Hello,

You must change the CMOS battery because it died.

Hi pokber,

As suggested by Ambucias, the error you have reported points to CMOS battery/Coin Cell battery failure and would require replacement of the same. If the computer is in warranty you can contact us (Dell) and the parts will be replaced.

If the computer is out of warranty we will not be able to offer warranty entitled services. In that case you might find the below mentioned link useful.
