You need a wifi "router" that is used as the hub for the LAN. Then you must have a wifi adapter for your PC. Most desktops don't come with wifi and need a USB adapter. Most laptops have wifi built-in.
You don't get wifi by wrapping a LAN cable around the PC or your HEAD.
