I'm trying to do a reflow myself on a dv2700 to fix video not displaying.

After disassembling the laptop I see that it did not have a nvidia chip. It has integrated video and I'm not sure where and what to reflow to get it working.

I see the cpu chip and there are two other chips on the other side of the motherboard.

Are there any vram on the board?

Here are a few photos. Please advise.

Hi blugen,

Re-flow (or re solder) a faulty video chip on an HP laptop is not an easy procedure. It must be carried out only by the experts who specialize in it. Please check the below mentioned video for an overview of the process and the apparatus used:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7uWX9KK6es

Do read the comments section for the details of the apparatus used. In the video you can see it shows the location of the graphics chip of a typical NVidia board.

Please reply if you have any further queries.

I've seen a few videos on the procedure and most of the boards have the NVidia chipset. Where would a person perform a reflow on the motherboard I have without the Nvidia chip?

I'm going to try to attempt this with a heat gun.

I'm looking for a temporary solution for a 4-6months until I get a newer laptop.

Hi blugen,

I have indicated the Graphics Chip on the image you posted. Please check the below image:

Also in the video in my previous reply, from 3 minutes 26 seconds onwards the graphics chips is shown clearly.

Please revert for clarification.
