Hi,

I have HP laptop (5 years old) with Windows XP SP2.
While working on laptop, it suddenly restarts for no reason (sometimes it makes sound Dug dug dug dug ...... just before restart).

I noticed that the laptop restarts more often when Adobe products are active (eg. Acrobat reader / Flash player during surfing).

I tried checking for errors by chkdsk and reformatting (with hp provided recovery discs), but the problem does not go away.

Is this any hardware problem or something else ? Is there something I could do other than going to a repair shop ?

Cheers.
Priya

Hi,
It might be because of your computer's processor is getting heated also hard disk making noise while transferring data for the process. So, a cooler for the laptop might help you fix the issue. Also, what you can try is:
De fragmentation of all the drives
Update DirectX, it might solve the issue with your graphics(flash player issue)

Hope it works!!
