I have a very long list of ID #'s that all start with the either BIL_ADMIN_ and then the number or with BIL_RECEIPT_ and then the number. Is there a way to have the last ID # that was entered for each of these automatically show at the top of the spreadsheet?

download data from this url
http://speedy.sh/xgrVq/clg710-140104.xlsx
see that columnA contnaing alphanumeric data SORTED ASCNEDING
now see the formulas in B1,C1 and D1
they are copied down.
this is one way of doing it. if you are comfortable with a macro revert back
