Skype closes when i go to video settings; i can't use webcam

Hi, my webcam was working perfectly fine but all of a sudden, it stopped working and whenever i go to video settings, it gives me this dialog box:

Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

Program: C:/Program Files/ Skype/Phone/Skype.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information

what can i do? please help. it's been days now like this
