Since you wrote that your computer also beeped 8 times, if I were you,
I:
1. Try to connect to an external monitor to see if it's not a video card issue as it could also be. Some monitor go into power saving when they don't get a good signal.
2. Check you cabling for both monitor and keyboard.
3. Last resort consult a technician.
