Hey kmd. I'd recommend that you try the USB flash drive with another computer and/or device to see if the same thing happens.
Do you want any data recovered from it, or you just want to make it work, so that we can determine what course of action to take?
You could try reinstalling or updating the USB drivers to see if that fixes the issue.
Also I'd recommend that you go to Disk Management and see if the pen drive is recognized there. Here's how to open Disk Management: https://support-en.wd.com/
