I have an Hp Pavilion dv6000. When I switch it on, it goes off within 2-3 seconds.

There is one chance in ten that you have a memory problem. I suggest you remove memory cards (one at a time) to see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise, you probably have a motherboard problem the will require replacement of the motherboard.
