How to open dbf file?

Hi All,
I have a dbf file that I want to open from a delphi app, if I create a ODBC system DSN, select "driver do microsoft dBase(*.dbf)" select ver 5 and path to my file.
I drop ADO table, datasource, and DBgrid onto the form, set the database name and table name (the table I want is available int he drop down) if I set the table to active I can see data in the dbgrid, now if I run the app it fails with a message "unexpected error form external database driver (15877)
ANy ideas
