Black screen blues

Hello, I have an older Toshiba laptop and after it's booted up the screen fickers then goes black but is still running normally, if you hold it under light you can see the screen alight a little bit but not enough to see the mouse cursor moving. If you close the laptop until it sleeps then log in the screen comes on but then flickers again and goes black after a few second which is not enough time to try anything. I've tried the options people have submitted but no luck, can anyone help? thankyou.

Hello maxied,

You might want to check the fan and cooling system of your laptop because this type of issue seems to be caused by desoldered video chip. If you can, please try to check your motherboard of the laptop and in case of need, to replace the so called North Bridge.
