Brother MFC 290C won't print black from the computer

Hello, My name is e a Donn, I have a Brother MFC 290c that won't print black from the computer, if put the original on the glass and select copy it copies fine.
I have tried re-installing drivers from Disc and brother web site and no joy..Help..
