Boot password

Hello,my laptop crashed now its asking me for boot password,if i press f8 its says entering boot menu plz wait and auto detecting ide devices then back to enter password plz help im a novice ,windows xp

hi there tried typing "ok" didnt work just says password strings dont match, i have took small panels off back of laptop what does cmos battery look like my laptop is packerd bell easy note 1000 windows xp, thanks for helping me

hi there did u manage to get this problem fixed as i now have the same issue with my packard bell and they are charging me £54 to fix it so i would like to try and fix it my self please comment back and let me know how you managed to reslove this issue. thanks.

try this as password: "ok"
if it does not work, you may reset the CMOS settings by removing the CMOS battery.
then you will be able to access the BIOS without any password prompt.
