My laptop powers upThe screen goes off as soon as I open it If I close it it comes back on . Has anybody had this issue yet And if you have please tell me what you did to fix it

Hook an external monitor to it. See if it kicks in when the other goes out. Pardon my ignorance of gateway machines, but what O/S?
