Desktop background but no icons on TV

Hello,

I'm just getting the desktop background but no icons or anything else on my flat screen tv as hooked up by HDMI from my desk top.

would you know how to make this adjustment?

It's possible that the TV was configured as an extension of the computer's screen. You can test this assumption by dragging an icon off the computer's screen onto the TV's screen.

If you want to configure the TV as an exact duplicate of the computer. Then you should select "clone" in the control panel controls for the monitor.
