Blank screen on startup

My Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop appears to load Windows 7 but results in blank screen. I suspect an immediate hibernation at end of startup. Same using disk. Suggestions?

Does it load in safe mode? Boot it in safe mode and let us know.

Thank you for the reply but I cannot get to the advanced startup screen using F8. So I can't boot safe mode because the screen is blank throughout startup even though it appears to laod the IOS, Windows 7. It appears to go through the boot up process and then immediately to the blank screen.

Does the Dell Image show up? If not, then screen cable is disco, or screen is bad, or invertor is bad.
