What is jusched.exe: is it safe, how to remove it?

If you are curious about the jusched.exe process going on on your computer, read this article. We'll explain what jusched.exe is, why it is running, and what you need (or don't need) to do with it. Spoiler alert: it is almost harmless.

What is the jusched.exe process?

If you've encountered the jusched.exe file on your computer and worry that it might be a virus, then don't. It is a completely harmless file that works as the Java Update scheduler. It is a built-in Windows feature that automatically checks for Java updates once in a month. If you don't need this function, you can easily delete it and free up memory space.

Do you need to remove jusched.exe from your computer?

You don't have to remove the file, especially if you work with Java and need to follow the updates. However, this process uses up the system resources and only checks Java updates once a month, so you can get rid of it to free up some space without losing functionality.

How to stop jusched.exe

  • To stop the jusched.exe process without removing it, go to Control Panel and type java in the search box.
  • Go to the Update tab in the pop-up window and uncheck the Check for Updates Automatically option.
  • Select Do Not Check in the warning window.
  • Save the new settings by clicking on Apply > OK.

This preference will stop the Java Update Scheduler from running.
