Hi
I'm trying to change the colour format of one cell with a text value based upon the text value of another cell, but cannot get it to work in excel for mac 2011.
I am using both Windows and mac versions.
I.e. cell A1 has a text value of "y" and cell b1 has a tick . Cell A1 needs to change colour to yellow.
Cell A1 has"N" B1 has a tick A1 needs to be red.

I am using values of data validation in A1 of "y", "n" and 'n/a" therefore making cell a1= n to verify the condition will still give me a red format which I do not want with"n/a"

If anyone can get this to work in "NUMBERS" that would also be appreciated

Help!
many Thanks
