To install Linux first time

I have download "ubuntu-14.04-server-amd64.iso". I want to install on my notebook PC which does not have any OS. Can I copy this UBUNTU to DVD ROM and install it?

That's the standard procedure. You use a program like Nero to read the iso file and burn a DVD. Then change the boot device to the DVD drive on the laptop and install Linux.
