If you no longer use iphone 6 device.
Ask the new owner to erase all content and settings to wipe your data.
If you're using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, sign in to iCloud.com or the Find My iPhone app on another device, select the device, and click Erase.
After the device has been erased, click Remove from Account.

or try some paid software to wipe your iphone private data like safewiper, it's not free, but trail version allows you wipe 50 files.

hope it works.

Hi westdinzo,
Generally, we are suggested to reset our iPhone to factory settings before we sell it. You can go to "Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings". And everything will be removed from your iPhone 6 then.
But one of my friend working in Apple told me that reset is not a safe way. In other words, it is still possible to recover. He suggested me to consider third-party data eraser to make it.
The one I used to wipe my old iPhone 5 is iMyFone iOS Eraser, you can take it for reference. It can completely erase all data from iPhone and it is unrecoverable then. Have a shot.

Generally, people tend to make a "factory reset" by going to "Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings".
However, that's not safe enough. Someone can still retrieve your personal data by using a third party recover software.
Just as AaronTaylor said, you can try iMyFone iOS Eraser(also called iMyFone Umate Pro)

Choose "Erase All Data" mode, all your data will be deleted permanently.
Hope it helps!
