WD Elements TV doesn't recognise my new external drive.

Have you been using your WD Elements with your TV before? As you said, this could be a formatting issue. Some TV recognize only external devices formatted in FAT32. It is highly possible that your WD Elements is preformatted in NTFS for Windows usage or in exFAT for Mac and Windows usage. I would suggest you to backup all important information and format the drive. Please have in mind that formatting the drive in FAT32 will prevent you from using the drive on a Mac.
I recommend you to test other devices on your TV. Do they work as expected?
