Password recovery

My phone stopped getting internet service and i was told i had to do factory reset and change my phone number so i had forgot my google gmail password and had no way to change it im asking i guess if I can get back into my google account where everything is stored I do have access to my gmail recovery account but im not to good at all this stuff any help would be greatly appreciated
