To recover your password for Gmail you need to go to the Google sign in. In small print you will see the text reading "Forgot password". Click on it. You will be asked for a backup email address. If you don't know what it is, go to "try another ". I always use my cellphone number as a recovery method. You will be sent a text with a code to enter which will allow you reset another password of your choice. If all else fails, open another account in Gmail. (Don't forget the password again).
