Lost my pictures

Hello,

I was transfering pictures from my camera to my computer, which i have done numerous times but now i cannot find the pictures anywhere in the computer and they got deleted from the camera. Where did thepictures go? And how do i find them. They are very important, i have to find them. they have to be in my computer somewhere. please help. thank you.
