HP wireless problems

Hello,
I had installed VPN software for my HP laptop and I then could not get into the computer without safe mode. I ended up uninstalling the program. Now my wireless won't work, when I switch it on the light stays red. Is my 802.11B card bad or do I need to reinstall something?

This is Windows Vista, not XP.
