Symantec antivirus

Hello,
I have installed symantec antivirus recently.But it didn't support my system configuration of Winows Vista Home Basic.So i uninstalled it.But it was not completely removed and still i m getting the notification from the task bar like"symantec antivirus auto update failed and symantec antivirus disabled.moreover when i m trying to install new antivirus it detects the presence of the already uninstalled symantec av.
Kindly help me to uninstall the symantec antivirus completely from my system
