you must understand that dates should be entered according to your regional convention of your computer either m/d/yy or d/m/yy
click control panels-region and language and choose format menu at the top
once you enter according to regional convention then you can FORMAT as you lilke
but remember this is only FORMATTING, THAT IS HOW IT LOOKS TO YOU. basic entry will be according to regional convention and the value will be a number
