You Can Enjoy Netflix Cloud Gaming Directly on Your PC and TV

Netflix continues its foray into the world of gaming! You can now play ten titles on your TV or PC at no extra cost. Is this enough to make the platform a real contender in cloud gaming?

As it diversifies its offerings to become more than just a streaming giant, Netflix is preparing to launch cloud gaming directly on televisions and PCs. The American platform has been exploring the video game sector for several years. Since November 2021, it has offered mobile games on Android and iOS without additional costs or ads. Regardless of their plan, all streaming platform subscribers can access this video game service at no extra charge. The catalog currently includes around fifty titles, ranging from small recreational games and titles from franchises like Stranger Things to gems that have proven themselves on PC and consoles, like Twelve Minutes and Soldiers Unknown: Brothers in Arms.

Although the digital giant has not yet achieved significant success in gaming, it remains undeterred. Adapting its strategy, the platform tested the possibility of playing video games on TV using a smartphone as a controller in 2023. However, this feature was initially reserved for Canada and the United Kingdom, and only for two titles. The project seems to be progressing, as Italy, Germany, and France have joined the beta program. Users in these regions can now enjoy ten titles from their PC or connected TV.

Netflix Games: Ten Titles

To access the video game catalog from the web version of Netflix, you must use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to see the tab dedicated to games appear on the homepage. To fully enjoy your gaming session, it is recommended to have a stable Internet connection with download speeds of at least 10 Mbps. In short, everyone should be able to enjoy it easily. However, for Smart TVs, in addition to a stable connection, you will need one of the following devices:

  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • LG Smart TV
  • Samsung Smart TV
  • Nvidia Shield
  • Roku devices
  • Xfinity 4K devices
  • Xumo devices

If you own one of these models, you'll need to download the Netflix Game Controller app on your iPhone or iPad or use the classic Netflix app on Android, which will act as a game controller. Currently, ten titles are available, some of which are worth a look:

  • Infernax
  • OXENFREE
  • Link Twin
  • Mole Gem Mayhem
  • Reigns
  • Reigns: Three Kingdoms
  • Rocket
  • Story Warriors: Fairy Tales
  • The Almost Gone
  • Underwatermelon: Fruit Merge

We particularly recommend Oxenfree, a sublime supernatural thriller that tells the story of a group of friends who accidentally open a spectral rift. You follow Alex and his half-brother Jonas as they, equipped with a radio to solve puzzles, try to escape this terrible nightmare. The game has an absolutely gorgeous aesthetic, with 3D characters navigating a 2D world, a masterful soundtrack, a complex storyline (in a good way), and multiple-choice dialogues fully dubbed in English. The two titles in the Reigns series are also very good and should keep you entertained for a good while.
