Is Your Gmail Storage Full? Here's How to Automatically Clear out Your Inbox

To increase your Google mailbox size, you don't need to purchase additional storage. Here's a simple and free way to do it.

Manually deleting spam and old emails can be a tedious process. But what can you do when Gmail notifies you that 100% of your storage is full and soon you won't be able to receive emails?

Over time, spam and the lack of time to delete old messages can fill up the 15 GB of free storage that comes with your Google account. This 15 GB also includes large files saved in Google Drive and Google Photos. Fortunately, there's an easy way to free up space in your Google account while keeping all your old emails if you don't have time to sort through them.

The solution is to create a second account to store your messages, as there is no limit to the number of free Google accounts you can have. Transferring Gmail messages to a new account is a simple process that anyone can do.

Before starting the transfer process, it's recommended that you create a backup by downloading your emails to your computer or external hard drive.

To create a new Gmail account, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your new account, click on the gear icon at the top, and select "See all settings."
  2. Select the "Accounts and Import" tab at the top, then click "Add a mail account" next to "Check mail from other accounts."
  3. In the pop-up window, enter the name of your original Gmail account and click "Next."
  4. Select "Import emails from my other account (POP3)" and click "Next."
  5. Enter the original Gmail account password. You may also need to create a Google app password.
  6. In the "Port" field, select 995. Check the boxes for "Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail," "Label incoming messages," and "Archive incoming messages (Skip the Inbox)."
  7. Click "Add Account."

You'll need to create a Google app password to transfer Gmail messages, which you can do on this page: https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords

Use this new app password instead of your usual one. After completing the Gmail message transfer, it's recommended to delete the app password.

Once you have successfully linked your new Gmail archive account to your original account, your emails should start transferring automatically. This process may take several hours, depending on the number of emails you have.
