Elements of AI: A Free Online Course Accessible to Everyone to Learn About AI
Are you overwhelmed by all the new developments in artificial intelligence? Check out Elements of AI, an online course accessible to everyone. It's a free training resource on AI, complete with a certification at the end!
For nearly two years now, artificial intelligence has been a hot topic. Ever since ChatGPT disrupted the tech world by making AI accessible to the general public, AI has been on everyone's lips. Major companies are racing to integrate it into all their services. With things moving so quickly, it can be hard to know where to start!
If you want to catch up and learn how to use this increasingly essential technology in the professional world, the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) called Elements of AI is perfect for you! Developed by the Finnish government, it's free and available in several languages, and can be accessed on a computer or mobile device. The course aims to democratize access to artificial intelligence, requiring no prior knowledge of computer science, programming, or coding. In short, it's designed for anyone who wants to learn. There's no reason to miss out, regardless of your level of tech or computer science knowledge—curiosity is your best asset!
Elements of AI: A MOOC Open to All
Developed by Teemu Roos, a professor of computer science at the University of Helsinki, and the innovation firm Reaktor, this online course offers 30 hours of content divided into six chapters. The program covers the following topics:
-
What is artificial intelligence?
- Solving problems with AI
- The real world of AI
- Machine Learning
- Neural Networks
- The implications of AI.
By the end of the program, you will understand the major implications of AI adoption and use, and be able to adopt a civic and critical stance on current events and assumptions in media and discussions about AI. You will know exactly what artificial intelligence is and be able to explain the methods that make AI possible. You'll even receive a certificate (non-degree) to confirm that you've completed the entire training curriculum.
This MOOC has already been a great success, with 145,000 participants from 80 countries. The Finnish government hopes to eventually reach 1% of its population, or more than 50,000 people. Statistics show that the program is truly accessible to everyone, reaching a diverse audience. For example, 40% of those registered are women, and more than 25% of participants are over 45 years old. So, why not give it a try?
