Upload photos from WhatsApp to Photoshop

Hi

I have just got my first smart phone LG K10 and although I can upload pictures to Photoshop taken on the phone I cannot upload pictures sent to me through Whatsapp.

Why won't Photoshop recognise these photos from the same phone.

Has anyone had a similar experience which they have resolved. It's my first granddaughter so its important ;))

Photoshop is not compatible with Whatsapp picture format.
