Invisible flash cards/card readers

Hello, Been watching the threads on "invisible" flash drives. I know how to access, via Administrative Tools, but surely there must be a way to make them permanently visible?
One of your correspondents suggested "resetting the BIOS". How do you do that, please, and what side effects is that likely to produce?

Hye the only way to make it appear again is doing a system restore!
