Preventing unwanted code

I want to play MP3s in my digital TV; it lists the contents on the USB stick by 'title', and the code at the beginning of the title leaves too little of the actual title readable. The MP3s are downloaded by Video Download Helper in Firefox. I know how to REMOVE the codes, but I'd like to know if I can prevent them from being added by VDH.
