Windows could not start on my HP

How do fix my Hp pavilion dv6000 when i start my laptop it comes up as Windows could not start the following because of yhe missing files or corrupt.... if its missing a file or corrupt and asking to please reinstall a copy of the above file (Windows-root) system 32\.hal.dll.and i dont have that how do i fix this problem i dont have he copy its asking for or a repair disk as it was given to me for this reason ..i can also access the pheniox BOIS setup utility screen can i fix from there or what do i do when i get to this screen please help me ive been on this for 2 days now and its driving me crazy lol ...thank you for you time

Hi

You system probably needs an update, unfortunately all support for Windows XP has been discontinued.
