Factory Reset Dell Laptop

We just found my brother in laws laptop. a dell inspiron n5010. we can’t remember his password or the admins password. i’m not given the option to choose a local user when i try to factory reset. i’ve tried removing the battery and all that but i don’t know what to do next

There are password crackers that you put onto a usb stick and boot the machine.
