My current version of iMovie 10.0.9 recently deactivated the SHARE button for files. I have rebooted the program and tried to share my movie files but have had no luck. Could this be a problem with my iMAC? Can I download iMovie again to rectify this issue?

Yes, you can reinstall iMovie to solve the issue.

Yes, you can safely download the software you need directly from CCM. Our download links come directly from the publishers' sites (sometimes through reliable alternative sources). By the way, we warn you if your download provides third-party software during installation.
