Laptop cannot play brand new dvds

Hello,
I went to go watch a dvd that I got from Amazon two week ago and my Sony/Vaio VGN-NR330e laptop’s DVD RW Drive is taking too long to load the disc properly. What should I do when my computer’s DVD RW Drive does not read dvds that are brand new?


System Configuration: iPhone / Safari 14.0.1

Hi,

Try using VLC media player and see if it solves the problem.

It is a different kind of problem. The DVD disc I inserted in this morning caused the DVD RW drive to not give me the proper spinning sounds in order for me to watch the movie. It has happened to me as of last August. I thought it is because the DVD disc is dirty and it needs to be wiped down, which I did not do. I will figure this out tomorrow.

Does this happen with DVD discs you usually use? If not, check that your new DVD disc is compatible with the region code of your area.

Not all of the time. The disc I inserted is compatible with the regional code of my area

Try installing this firmware update for your DVD RW drive.

Among the improvements, this update:
  • Improves compatibility with media created by other consumer electronics products
  • Adds support for newer types of disc media
  • Resolves an issue where sometimes the drive will not read discs


Hope it will solve the problem.
