Why doesn't Opera actually look like this?

Your display of Opera browser is incorrect. There is NO Menu tab, no red bar and in any event does not operate even after you find the Bookmark in the 3 dots on the RIGHT of the screen, not the left.

In the phone layout, tapping the menu button at the bottom of the screen will access Opera's features and settings. In the tablet layout, tapping the menu icon will open its settings. Go to Settings > Appearance in Opera to change the layout. Adblocking and a night mode control are available from the Opera menu.
