My network icon in settings is greyed out and it says on but the icon is not showing and when I try to open a network-related setting is closed in 1 second automatically I tried killing explorer.exe and re-starting it but still no icon.

Hi,

Can you connect to content that requires an Internet connection? If yes, we'll try to scan and repair corrupted system files.

Right-click on the Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).

Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.

Then type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

After that, restart your PC.

In the search bar located in the taskbar, type cmd.

Right-click on it and select Run as administrator.

Open Settings and go to Update & Security > Recovery.

Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.

After restarting, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

Run the following commands:
  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  • sfc /scannow

Good luck

Open the Start menu. At the bottom left, you will see the button to shut down the PC. Above, click on the gear icon (Settings). From the Settings window, you will see Update & Security.
