Microsoft Word scroll bar issue

The vertical scroll bar disappeared in word. I now have a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom and it turns document pages. The wheel on the mouse is also turning pages. How can I get the vertical scroll bar back and have it scroll through the document and not turn pages? I’ve made sure the display menu has “show vertical and horizontal scroll bar” are both checked
