Hello,

If I use a phone number to sign up for a yahoo mail account, and as soon as the account is created I remove that phone number as a recovery option, can the person who has access to that phone number log into my account?

Hi,

Yes - the phone number will still be linked to the account for a moment after you removed it for security reasons. The owner will also be notified that their phone number has been removed, and they can take action to reset the account.

Thus, it is recommended to use your own phone number or the one of someone you trust who is aware that you are using their number to create your account.
