My downloads where do they go???

Hello,
I download files such as AVG they download click run then when I look for download its vanished its not in any file that I can find I have vista and explorer 8 I think can anyone help please

check C:\Documents and Settings\(USERNAME)\My Documents\Downloads or check if you run them or save them
