    Hi!

I need previous versions of BIOS for my ASUS A7U. The reason is the following. It looks like ASUS added to last version of BIOS (206 - 2008.10.24 - A7U206AS) special undocumented code that restricts possibilities to upgrade. And offer only this last BIOS. I can not find anywhere any previous version of BIOS. I hope previous version will solve problem of upgrading.

Can you advise databases where I can get previous versions of BIOS for my notebook? Without mods. Simply official versions.

Windows / Edge 117.0.2045.47

Hi,

I couldn't find any previous version for your BIOS - only the 206 version is offered by Asus and other third party websites. I suggest you try asking Asus support to see if they can provide old BIOS versions for your laptop directly.

Also, it seems that your processor is an AMD Turion 64 MK-36. Running a recent operating system will be almost very difficult even if you upgrade the RAM and use a SSD. Windows 7 (or a lightweight Linux distribution) seems to be the last system supported by your laptop.

Turion TL-58.

I am in Windows 10 now. I hope, it's possible to upgrade processor too.

No. ASUS says: "Your moddel is in archive. We have right not to help".

Me too. It seems, it's hidden policy of ASUS. They make last BIOS-es that don't allow to upgrade. All previuos versions are removed.

Most of the time, processors are soldered on the motherboard on laptops, making upgrade not possible. However, for your Asus A7U, this page suggests that your processor can be upgraded to the ones listed there (CPUs supported by your motherboard).
