I need to restore back factory settings

Hello,
I have a Compaq Presario C700 Notebook with Windows Vista Basic and over a period of time my laptop has incurred many different errors eg. I could play any DVD before but now I cannot play any dvds (asking for a dvd decoder) and also I cant do anything in Windows Word, Excel, Powerpoint and I cannot open any files.

What can I do rather than pay out big money to have someone repair my laptop.

hi,

if you have the factory restore CD, insert it and restore your computer.

else you may do a system restore.

>start

>accessories

>system tools

>system restore
