Yahoo messenger works but IE & mozilla do not

My yahoo messenger works (but not really well since sometimes, it kicks me out and then everytime i try to sign back in, it give me error 8). then whenever i try using internet explorer and mozilla firefox, it would say that it cannot display webpage. or on those rare instances when IE would work, it will only be just for a few minutes. or i would have to click the link several times before it works. please, i need help on this. thanks!
