wifi not working with WPA/WEP encription Closed

Hello,
I have netgear wifi router. When I encrypt it with WEP/WPA then I am not able to connect it..It continues showing "Acquiring network address" and later does not connect to the network.
When I change the protection to NONE. It gets connected.
What settings I need to do to make it secure.

you can set up a user name and password to connect to internet.

check the connection settings in control panel.
