Date convert into manth name

Hello,
my request is, i am maintainning a birth day record of around 150 employees in axcel sheet .
their date of birth has been mentioned as numeric date,so its very difficult to find the particular
month birth day list.

my request is , is there any formula in excel where we can type numeric date ,month ,year and we get the month name ?

for example if i am typing 01-Jan-2009 can we get the month name ?
