Help with IF formula

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I'm collecting information to track projects.
Column B has total "8". Column C, Column D and Column E represent Status; (C-Preliminary, D-In Progress or E-Completed) I'm looking for totals in each category but to reflect the number in column B.

See sample below:

Total Prelim In Prog Comp
8 x
2 x
5 x
2 x
2 x

Total: 10 7 2

The sample I provided didn't carry the formatting over so I'll attempt to explain in words...
If Prelim is checked in C, then refer to the # entered in column B
If In Progress is checked in D, refer to the # entered in column B
If Completed is checked in E, refer to the # entered in column B
Give me totals in C, D, E of the corresponding #'s in B

I want Column B broke out with totals based on status as entered in C, D and E.
