HCL leaptop DVD Writer not working Closed

Question

Hello, I have HCL Leatop whose DVD writer is not working. I have to Format my C drive due to its infection to Virus. How can I do that? It has Windows Vista Home Premium.

Dear Sir,

Please check on your BIOS setup if the DVD Writer is disabled,

Or you will have to take the laptop to be checked by a technician, 

I just think that the DVD Writer connection must be checked if there's a problem

Hello, 
my DVD/RW will not read cds, dvds or data discs. I used it regularly for burning both cds and dvds, up until 2days ago when it suddenly decided to stop working for reasons unknown. I have been to device manager which says there is no problems, I have reinstalled to let the pc find it. I am now at a loss please can someone help me.
