Hello,
not sure what's goin on with this dumb computer. I installed Sims to play. It worked the very first day. Now i put the CD in and it opens the menu, I click play and it doesn't open. Same thing with all the card games(Spider, solitaire, basically ALL the games), Kodak software, cannot open Help & Support, Add/Remove programs... NOTHING! I click all these applications and a little black box(the one from when you click the RUN button) appears for 2 seconds and then dissapears. It does that to every single application! I even downloaded the Superspyware Free edition and i can't even open that! Tried redownloading, does not work still. It's that same littel black box screen. Oh and everytime I go to a diff page on the net, a stupid Windows Anti application pops up! I can only open Internet explorer form the desktop. But if I click start, and click it, the same little stupid box! What's wrong? Can any1 help? Thank you so much!

sounds like your computer has contracted a virus or malware.

what I would do is try and save any of your files that you want to keep and reformat the drive and do a fresh install of the operating system.
i would also get yourself a reputable internet security software. not something that is downloaded and free from the internet. I would get one of the known ones like kaspersky, mcafee or eset nod32.

i would install this on your system before even contemplating surfaing the net.
do a sweep of your system after you have installed your software.
before you connect to net, do a backup of your hard drive. a good method is with a program called ghost or Acronis. (search web for inf on these)

this will save you hours of reinstallation if the time arrises again. time to reimage a hard drive from a ghost image is anything from 20 minutes to and hour, compared to several hours the other way.
